The Secret to Heal a Broken Heart

What’s the secret to heal a broken heart? The secret is to realize that your heart is not really broken. As long as you are still alive, your heart is full and still giving you a life that you can enjoy if you want. It may be wounded, but it will heal sooner or later. This may sounds literal, but this is true. Many people are not healed when they are tremendously hurt because they think it’s already the end of their world. A person, when emotionally wounded, becomes emotionally weak. His heart feels pain. Just like other body pain, the extreme pain of the heart sends a loud message to the brain. Consequently, the brain gives much attention to that pain. This is why our brain doesn’t function normally when we are emotionally hurt. We can’t also think clearly and do things normally.

To heal an extremely wounded heart (broken heart), you need to get rid of hatred and sadness. To get rid of hatred, you need to be humble. To get rid of sadness, you need to have joy. To have joy, you need to be thankful. One thing you should be thankful, is the truth that you are still alive. To fortify your thankfulness, you need to be peaceful. To be peaceful, you need to have gentleness. To be gentle, you need to be kind. To have kindness, you need to have love. Finally, to have instant love, you need to know and believe in God.

  1. I love your advice. Showing gratitude to God even when our heart gets broken is the secret to healing.

Here is a quote from Florence Shinn’s excellent book: The Game of Life and How to Play it:

There is an old saying: “No man is your enemy, no man is your friend, every man is your teacher.” So one should become impersonal and learn what each man has to teach him, and soon he would learn his lessons and be free.
